ABOUT WOLF PARK
-
No. Wolf Park is a privately owned and operated non-profit facility. We are not funded by any state or federal organizations.
-
We are home to gray wolves, red foxes, gray foxes, bison, and an eastern box turtle. We also create habitat for native Indiana species like pollinators and migratory birds and maintain a bat and quail nature preserve adjacent to Wolf Park’s main property.
-
Most of the animals were born here. The rest came from other facilities like ours or wildlife rehabilitation centers.
-
Wolf Park animals are socialized and comfortable around people so they are not candidates for release into the wild. They are ambassadors for their wild-born cousins. We hope by giving people a chance to see and interact with our ambassadors, they will make better-informed decisions relating to wildlife and natural resources.
-
Wolf Park is on Eastern Standard Time, like Michigan and Ohio. Northern Indiana and Chicago are on Central Time. Please plan accordingly. This part of Indiana is also on Daylight Savings Time.
ADMISSION
-
We accept cash, checks, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and Apple/Droid Pay. We do not accept American Express.
-
Wolf Park is a private, non-profit facility funded by admissions. We offer discounts to our members. Learn more on our Members page. Other discounts are event-specific. Please see our Tours & Events pages – any eligible discounts will be included in program descriptions.
-
General admission is $5 per person for limited access to a small portion of our park. If you want to see all of our ambassador animals, please book a tour or event registration. Click HERE for more information about planning your visit.
ACTIVITIES
-
We run guided tours of the facility throughout the week and a variety of specialty programs and events monthly. Please see our Tours & Events page for details on general tours and available seasonal events. For all other unique programs, visit the Programs tab in our main menu bar.
-
Our Visitor Center hours are 9:30am – 2:30pm Eastern Time on Sunday – Friday, and 9:30 – 9:00pm Eastern Time on Saturday. Our general admission is $5. General admission visitors have limited access to our animal exhibits, buildings, and picnic area. We can’t guarantee which ambassador animals you’ll see in our general admission area. If you want to see all of our ambassador animals, please book a tour or event registration. You can book your Save Wolves Save Wilderness tour, Howl Night, and other programs here. We highly recommend you book your program in advance, as our tours and events often fully book.
-
Both tours follow the same tour path and often include similar content. However, Save Wolves Save Wilderness tours are public tours that allow multiple bookings and Private Tours are limited to one booking, providing a more personalized experience.
-
Save Wolves Save Wilderness tours last about 45-60 minutes. The tour follows a half mile walking trail. Our other tours last between 45-90 minutes depending on the program. Explore all of our tour options HERE.
-
All Wolf Park ambassadors are very comfortable with people and will often come straight up to the fence. However, our wolves reside in large natural-habitat enclosures, so they have the freedom to rest or travel out of sight.
-
General visitors to the park do not interact with our animal ambassadors. Our animals are separated from visitors by fences. Ambassador Adventures are facilitated inside the habitats, details can be found HERE.
ACCESSIBILITY
-
Wolf Park has ramps leading up to all buildings not on ground level and handicap-accessible bathroom stalls. We have benches placed around the tour trail for resting. The trail is a flat and fairly even-level gravel path. For reference, the gravel in our parking lot matches the gravel on the trails.
Many of our programs are walking tours along our half-mile loop trail. Note that the gravel trails can be difficult for wheelchairs, walkers, or strollers during the wet spring months. As an alternative, Wolf Park offers the use of golf carts driven by a staff member alongside your scheduled tour at no extra charge. Golf carts are limited so please notify our Visitor Center in advance after making your reservation.
During events, our golf carts are used to shuttle those who need it between treat deliveries. They will make a constant loop around the trail during the event. Guests who request to use the golf cart can be dropped off along the trail and later picked up. We cannot guarantee that those in need of the golf cart will be able to see every treat delivery. Viewing of the fox delivery and main pack delivery will happen at the front of the park where golf cart access is not necessary.
Wolf Park’s Howl Night program does begin with an optional, self-guided trail walk for the first 30 minutes of the event. The rest of the event is seated at our bleachers and takes place at the front of our property. There are areas alongside general seating where individuals using wheelchairs may position themselves for a clear view while still sitting with any guests from their group.
Individuals who may need an ASL interpreter or other accommodations, please contact our main office at wolfpark@wolfpark.org or 765-567-2265.
-
There are several stopping points along the trail with benches for resting. Additionally, we have golf carts available at no extra charge for guests who are uncomfortable walking long distances. Wheelchairs, walkers, strollers, and the like are welcome on the trail, but these might not be operational when the park is especially muddy. Wolf Park offers the use of golf carts driven by a staff member alongside your scheduled tour at no extra charge. Golf carts are limited so please notify our Visitor Center in advance after making your reservation.
-
Pets are not allowed inside the park. We do not have facilities to board your pets while you are on a tour. We encourage you to leave your pets behind. Pets left in cars parked on our property during extreme temperatures will be reported to local law enforcement.
-
Although service dogs are well-trained, many of them are not prepared to have wolves within a few feet of them. If you can manage without your service dog for an hour or so, we encourage you to leave them behind for the mental health of the dog. If your dog needs to be with you at all times, please let the staff know in advance. We will have a staff member accompany you on a tour to assist with distracting the wolves or dog as needed. If your dog is thoroughly uncomfortable around the wolves, our staff can drive you and your dog on the tour trail. We will do our best to accommodate all requests made in advance. Any questions regarding this can be directed to our main office wolfpark@wolfpark.org or 765-567-2265.
Companion, emotional support, and therapy animals are not permitted inside the park.
-
Please smoke/vape in the designated area OUTSIDE the park. Please dispose of all cigarette butts. We do not want our ambassador animals to ingest them.
-
Eating at our outdoor picnic tables is permitted, alcohol and littering are not. Guests are responsible for proper disposal for all food and trash that comes inside the park. Any guests caught with alcohol or sharing food with our ambassador animals or wild animals on park property will be asked to leave immediately.

You are welcome to take pictures and post them online. Please tag @wolfparkindiana when you post!

DONATIONS
-
We accept packaged hotdogs, pepperoni, and summer sausage year-round. These can be dropped off at our Visitor Center during our open hours.
As of August 16, 2023, we MAY accept butchered whole cuts (i.e. not ground) of venison, beef, or chicken that is less than one year old. Please call as if you are reporting roadkill, but instead let us know what you would like to donate (type and approximate weight) and a number to get back to you. If we think we may be able to use the meat, we will call you back within 24 hours to make arrangements for you to deliver it. We will not pick up freezer meat. PLEASE do not drop off meat without calling. If you do not get a call back, we cannot use the cuts you have.
When calling Wolf Park to report roadkill deer, dial 765-567-2265 and press option 1.
-
We will ONLY accept still-born calves or calves under 200 pounds that have died of natural causes or bullet wounds. If the animal was euthanized by a vet, we cannot accept them. We will not accept live animals. We cannot use calves for food unless we receive information on their origin. Please be sure you speak with Wolf Park staff when dropping off.
If you drop off unsolicited deceased animals or fail to provide information on their origin to Wolf Park personnel, you will be reported for illegal dumping. We do not offer pickup for deceased farm animals. Please call ahead at 765-567-2265.
-
Yes. If you see a dead deer on the road , please call us. When calling to report roadkill deer, dial 765-567-2265 and press option 1. Then leave a message with as many details about the deer’s location as possible.
We do not pick up on interstates. If the deer is wounded but still alive, call the police. The police will often call us after they have dispatched the deer. By reporting a deer, this will not guarantee pick up. If a deer is in an unsafe location, inaccessible, beyond salvage for the wolves, outside of our range, or we do not have available staff, we will not pick up.
Deer are the only road kill we can pick up.

REHOMING ANIMALS
-
Wolf Park supports ethical ownership of wolfdogs (aka wolf x dog hybrids) in areas in which their ownership is legally permitted, given the physical, environmental, cognitive and emotional care and welfare of the animals are considered. Wolfdogs can range from animals which show few or no wolf characteristics, all the way up to animals which show few or no dog characteristics. In general, the more a wolfdog looks and acts like a wolf, the more it must be kept like a wolf and the narrower the margin for human errors or inattentiveness during handling them.
Wolf Park also supports and recognizes the growing need in, and for wolfdog rescue and sanctuary placement. While Wolf Park does not directly take in animals from the public, we do support the effort of wolfdog sanctuaries and rescue centers across the United States that work to recognize and meet the needs of these animals.
For a resource list of such facilities, please visit Animal Advocates of Greater Lafayette.
-
We cannot, we are not a rehab facility. If you are in the Lafayette area, please contact Wildcat Creek Rescue Center.
-
We do not sell our puppies to private individuals.
-
We very rarely have extra pups and are very particular which facilities receive our pups. You are welcome to contact our head curator, Jon, at jon@wolfpark.org. Please provide detailed information about your facility and needs.
