Young Naturalist Program

Wolf Park is offering an opportunity for young adults aynlogoges 13 to 17 years old who are interested in learning more about our resident animals, nature, conservation and what happens behind the scenes at a non-profit animal park.

Participants meet one Saturday a month year round to participate in an educational program offered by resident staff, interns or volunteers on a variety of topics and research related to the Park.

In addition, participants will be asked to volunteer six to eight hours a month to the Park in supervised activities depending on their interests and availability. Opportunities for service may include enclosure clean-up, assisting with youth camps, gardening and yard cleanup, office work, tour shadowing, animal observation, fund raisers, designing educational displays and creating animal enrichment items.

In addition to learning from educational presentations and community service, participants will be given opportunities to strengthen their leadership abilities as they help to set future goals for the program and choose the educational presentations they are interested in hearing.

Participants will need to provide their own transportation to meetings and volunteer hours, be willing to follow Park rules and procedures and come with an enthusiastic attitude, ready to learn, grow and have fun.

Since the program is designed to allow participants to learn and develop their own leadership abilities, parents are asked to drop off their teen — or, parents are welcome to use the time to volunteer service hours themselves to Wolf Park! Active program participants and their families will be given a pass for free admission to the Park.
