Miska (April 9, 1996 – July 22, 2013)

Miska (April 9, 1996 - July 22, 2013)

Miska was the son of Altair and Chinook. Miska and his brother, Seneca were born in 1996 and quick to show off their strong personalities. Like his father, Miska showed a tendency to see how far he could push people before they would make him stop.

Miska and Seneca were an affectionate pair of brothers, sometimes swapping the dominant role between them. Seneca eventually came out on top although Miska spent a summer as pack alpha in 1998. In 2003, the pack was divided and Miska moved to East Lake to live with Seneca and his niece Marion. Miska was relatively happy with the arrangement. After Seneca’s death in 2007, Miska and Marion learned to tolerate each other without Seneca’s mediating influence.

Miska became a favorite training companion of Ken McCort, a dog trainer who makes yearly trips to Wolf Park. Each year, Ken and Miska would pick off where they had left off, working on complicated routines and generally enjoying the opportunity to share some hot dogs.

“Miska Moo” was peacefully euthanized on the evening of July 22 at the ripe old age of 17.
